Fall Favs

September 19th
Fall is right around the corner, and we cannot wait to fall into all things autumn: cozy knits, delicious and hearty foods, and updating our living space for the season. Here’s our checklist of must-haves and must-dos for all things fall:
Fashion
Let’s say hello to new favourites and beef up those closet staples. This season’s colours are bold, rich hues of burgundy paired with classic neutrals. This burgundy blazer from Laura is an easy way to mix in a bold pop of colour at work with the closet staples you already have. And, of course, we’re welcoming back cardigans for sweater weather. We found this comfy and casual cardigan at Penningtons – perfect for an afternoon apple-picking date or snuggled up, reading your favourite book. Chunky platform loafers, thigh-highs and moto boots are hot this fall. For the fashionista who’s always on the go, these moto boots from DSW check all the boxes.
Food
When we think of fall foods, we’ve got one thing and one thing only on our mind: soup. Give the kitchen a night off and grab one of your favourite hearty classics at Grasslands. Chicken Noodle? Tim Hortons. Broccoli cheddar? The Chopped Leaf. Wonton Soup? Sizzling Wok. Wildcard soup of the day? Mr. Mikes Steakhouse Casual. Or, if you’d rather stay in and envelope your kitchen with the most heavenly scent of fresh soup, you can always make your own at home. Add soup base, veggies, and protein to your ingredient list and head to Walmart for everything you need.
This wouldn’t be a fall blog if we didn’t mention pumpkin spice! If you’re itching for a pumpkin-spice latte, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, and McDonald’s all have their own version for you to love. You can also check out their seasonal menus for even more fall-flavoured food and drinks!
Home
Planning ahead can help make your fall yard cleanup a breeze. And with the looming thought of icy cold s-word around the corner (maybe if we don’t say it, it will hold off for a few more months?), making sure you’re fully prepped to rake leaves, pull weeds, and trim trees will make that cleanup so much easier when the time comes. Check out these pro tips from RONA+ to make sure you cross every item off your list.
Now that we’ve gotten through the less exciting part about fall (cleanup is kind of a drag, no?), let’s talk home decor. Rich, earthy tones, textured layers, and vintage-inspired pieces are all on our must-have list. We’ll be stopping in at HomeSense and Marshalls to find some new, perfectly priced pieces. And speaking of pumpkin spice, we can’t forget about alllll the amazing scented products at Bath & Body Works. Pumpkin, chai, apple cider, caramel… You name it, they’ve got it in a candle, soap, or lotion!
