When I first arrived in Regina as an immigrant, I wasn’t sure what the future held. All I knew was that I wanted to find a stable job that I could truly enjoy and that would allow me to support my family. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would one day become a manager at Cobs Bread. But the support I received along the way helped me reach this point, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.

I owe so much to Julia, the previous owner, whose mentorship and guidance were crucial in helping me develop the skills I needed to do my job effectively. Without her teachings and unwavering support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Now, working with Sydney, the current owner, I continue to grow, learning from her as I manage the store and lead my team.

I believe that to be a good leader, you must first be a good follower. Lead by example, because how your team sees you is how they’ll follow you. And most importantly, listen. Listening to your staff doesn’t mean always agreeing with them, but it allows you to understand their perspective and needs. I take great pride in being able to create an environment where everyone feels supported. I believe in teaching my team everything they need to be their best and empowering them to succeed. Knowing that I’ve helped someone grow, or that I’ve played a part in their success, is incredibly rewarding.

Every day, I find joy in helping our customers and seeing the smiles on their faces. Being able to meet their needs and provide them with great service is what keeps me motivated. There’s something truly special about transforming someone’s rough day into a brighter one, or satisfying a customer’s craving. At the end of the day, we’re not just selling bread—we’re selling happiness.

When I first arrived in Canada, I came with a modest dream. Today, I am living that dream, with the privilege of contributing to the success of others as well. As I continue on this journey, I look forward to the opportunity to grow further, to support my team, and to be part of many more success stories in the future.
